Order

Here is the suggested order of inputting new data into the wiki, specifically a new anime and its themes.

  1. Anime (Title, Year, Season, Synopsis)
  2. Synonyms
  3. Themes
  4. External Resources (anime and artists)
  5. Images (anime and artists)
  6. Artists
  7. Studios

Step 1: Anime

Add the anime (title, year, season, synopsis).

Note: As mentioned later, if a MyAnimeList external resource is attached, other external resources, images, and studio will be backfilled.

Step 2: Synonyms

Add the synonyms.

Step 3: Themes

Add the themes.

Step 4: External Resources

Add the external resources for both anime and artists. External resources can also be added for studios.

Anime usually requires MAL, Anilist, AniDB, ANN, Anime-Planet, and Kitsu. Artists requires MAL, Anilist, ANN, and AniDB. If available, you can add the Twitter or Official Website as well, usually found on the description of MAL and Anilist. Studios require MAL, Anilist, ANN, and AniDB.

Note: Because of seeders, only adding the MAL one should be sufficient for anime. If there is no MAL resource, all manual input is required. Studios and Artists need all manual input.

Step 5: Images

Add the images for both anime and artists.

Note: Because of seeders, this is not necessary if a MAL resource is added (for anime).

Step 6: Artists

Add the artists.

If possible, please attach all correlating songs the artist has done that is in our database. You can crosscheck it with MAL, Anilist, or AniDB.

If you do not plan to add the artists, still check if the theme already has the Artist in the database. Then attach the artist to the correlating song.

Note: Please manually input everything (images and external resources) for Artists.

Step 7: Studios

Add the studios.

Note: This is not necessary because of seeders. However, if MAL does not have the studio listed, manual input is required. Additionally, if a new studio is added to the database (through manual input or seeders), its other external resources needs to be added as well.

Tips

  • MAL is a good starting point, but AniDB is the more complete database. On MAL, there is a usually always a correlating AniDB link under External links. Use this to find out artists, studios, etc.
  • If you're doing a lot of entries at once, making a list or spreadsheet could be useful.
  • Using Create and then Add Another is helpful if you're mass adding entries
  • If you are searching for something to attach, using the ID is the best method. If it has to be text, try choosing a unique word from the title, rather than typing the whole title, to get more accurate results.
  • Sometimes the seeders will fail or miss a resource. Be sure to come back and confirm that all necessary information is added.
  • It might be easier if external resources and images were premade to make it easier to attach.
